Sound Meditation is the practice of using intentional sound and music to help access expanded states of consciousness. It is a contemporary modality with ancient roots, integrating western psychoacoustic science and eastern wisdom in a meditative setting. The practice is supported by a suite of overtone-rich instruments like symphonic gongs, antique singing bowls, and monochords. The judicious and equanimous observation of these conscious sounds is a powerful tool to disengage from discursive thought and experience a state of wordless transcendence. It is suitable for beginner and experienced meditators alike, as the sound facilitates an easeful dropping in without the need of a complex intellectual technique. We will begin with a brief talk before lying down with the support of bolsters and blankets, wearing an eye mask. After which, gentle breathwork and vocalizing will prepare the body and mind to receive and engage with sound.

Join us this Autumn for an enriching seasonal experience, as we utilize diverse tools and techniques to support dropping into deep states of embodiment.
In Chinese theory, Autumn is the season for drawing nourishing energy inward, while connecting to enriching energy that strengthens the lungs. The shifting of summer light into fall colors opens a space of resilience and capacity, empowering us to release what no longer serves us.
We use Katonah Yoga Restorative shapes in combination with overtone-rich sounds. Using formal setups, hands-on adjustments, and props as boundaries, we scaffold physical and emotional structure, freeing imagination to inhabit the natural breath. Instruments like chimes, singing bowls, and gongs join with this dynamic environment, guiding attention deeper into form. When mind and body connect in this way, breath and energy move effortlessly, evoking ease and safety, and inviting new layers of psycho-somatic release.
Each participant will receive a uniquely personal experience guided by three facilitators. Our nervous systems harmonize in time, empowering you to emerge from the class feeling elevated, energized, and transformed by internal guidance.
